Spares and Warranty Management
InSync’s Spares and Warranty Management application
is targeted at managing high-value equipment requiring periodic
repair and replacement.
The application provides dashboards, metrics, and alerts to
help monitor inventory and repair processes, and can be integrated
with EDI or RosettaNet partner messaging to handle the relevant
business documents. In addition to RFID control zones, the
system can identify specific storage locations, so that personnel
can be directed to the exact location of given item, enabling
FIFO, LIFO, and other stock rotation schemes.
Warranty management can also provide significant cost savings.
A study analyzing serial numbered assets being processed for
repair revealed that 10% of the items were still under vendor
warranty. Accountability was lost due to the inability to
track specific items by unique serial number.
Serial number tracking provides accountability to each individual
item within populations of items with same stock number. A
vendor’s performance is monitored on a per-item basis,
versus the commodity level, to allow comparisons by individual
part and by repair site. Problem items being repeatedly inducted
for repair can be identified, and potentially designated as
being beyond-economical-repair. The system assists in research
for misplaced items.
