Chemicals
The chemical industry and its extended supply chains are well suited for AIDC and condition tracking systems that provide unprecedented levels of product and process visibility. Assets in this supply chain tend to be rather expensive and often have expiration dates, temperature thresholds and other item-level requirements that must be managed.

InSync software can be utilized by customers in this industry to create a real-time global RFID and temperature sensor network, driving visibility down to the item-level.
Passive or active RFID tags can be attached to chemical barrels, and RFID antennas can be installed at dock doorways. InSync's software lets operators configure, run diagnostics, and monitor RFID hardware at each of these read points. Additionally, InSync's SensorNet Manager application allows customers to record information gathered from the temperature sensors at each location, relaying the current environmental data real-time to the ERP/WMS systems. If a temperature dips below or peaks above a pre-determined threshold, operators are alerted, and the chemicals affected are quickly identified and either saved or efficiently quarantined.
InSync’s software works hand-in-hand with ERP and WMS systems, sending sensor data and instructions used for S2S messaging, including issuing ASNs, POs, and more. At the warehouses, InSync's software sends data to the 3PL company’s WMS that handles picking, inventory, and shipping.
Using InSync's software, e xpensive chemicals are closely monitored, and if temperature sensors record changes, operators are alerted immediately. Faster response times translate into reduced scrap and quarantine of materials. Forecasted orders are filled faster and with fewer errors thanks to detailed tracking of stock levels and chemical movements between the supplier and warehouses. Accountability has also been improved: at any given moment a barrel’s history can be referenced to determine where a problem has occurred.
